About:
My story started with creating cute personalised cards for loved ones for their birthday mostly for fun and to make that person feel special, seen and loved. I would take something in their personality and draw something special to them on the card like a comic sketch of them or turn them into a comic character or draw something they like. I really liked personalising the cards rather than the generic, cold and manufactured feel to the ones in the stores.
Slowly people were telling me I should start my own business and were telling me they were sick of the cards they saw in the big supermarkets: that they all looked the same, had rude and disgusting jokes on them and just weren't personal feeling at all. For a while I was unsure if I should start my own business and I was only doing it for fun really and I wasn't sure if people would actually be willing to buy my cards. But now I've begun this business and journey and I'm excited to see if others would love what I make and draw. I really want to create things that are beautiful, aesthetic and have that personal feel to them.
All my cards are hand drawn, most of them are then scanned and printed using my eco printer meaning less ink, less plastic and less waste. While other cards are outsourced from printers that use 100% recycled paper, no chlorine and carbon neutral printing. It's lovely to admire nature but it's also important to take care of it. I try and make things as eco friendly as I can like including biodegradable postal mailers and repurposed cardboard when posting as well as the eco printing and using some recycled paper. I found it also just looks better when using things that feel real and aren't so artificial and looks higher quality as well as being better for nature. Which is always a bonus.
Ellaria Jade greeting cards are inspired by Cornwall, beaches, adventure, faith, classic VW campervans and all things hippie. I hope that my cards create the feeling of being in the warm sun and relaxing by the sea, or that you enjoy my unique and quirky art style.
My art style is a mixture of biro pens and felt tip brush pens, I just love the way the black biro makes things stand out and giving a texture to my pictures in a simple way and the felt tips give deep and rich colour with an ability to still blend well and have maximum control of colouring in unlike painting I find. I also just like the flow of using pens on the pages and the control over lines and details. My overall style is a mixture of simple lines and a bit of complex shading.
I hope you like my designs and drawings. Thank you for reading my story.
